From Ancient Rome to Medieval France and into modern times, landscaping has served a variety of purposes.  Albeit much of that purpose was served in the form of vanity, a great deal of it was also beneficial.  Properly placed trees can provide shade, act as a wind block, and or mitigate intrusive views.  Other types of shrubs and plants, when strategically located, can act as deterrents to would be home invaders.  Although our spaces are smaller these days, edible gardens can either fulfill or supplement your nutritional needs.  And lets face it, a large open space of a beautifully manicured lawn is a great place to spend time with the family.  And that is truly what it is all about.

While we typically think of landscaping as the beautification of an area or residence, all of the aforementioned ideas can be implemented into a concept and be beautiful at the same time.  As I’ve mentioned earlier, it’s all about what you are trying to achieve…
